MEET OUR FOUNDER
Dance People is powered by Ovations Global Network Inc.
Christopher Scott Caldwell is a visionary cultural producer, master educator, internationally certified dance technician, and community activist. He is the founder and CEO of Dance People by Ovations Global Network Inc., a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit alliance of artists, educators, investors, and changemakers leveraging the transformative power of dance to enhance quality of life and build global community. With a mission to provide a safe, creative home where artists across generations can cultivate purpose and create work that moves, educates, and inspires, Caldwell has spent over two decades making a lasting impact across the U.S., Japan, and the Caribbean.
Born in Los Angeles, his passion for dance began early—mimicking Paula Abdul and choreographing imaginary ice-skating routines. His first performances were charming childhood cameos on tour stages with his father and uncles alongside legendary groups like The O’Jays and The Four Tops. His career since has unfolded into a powerful tapestry of mentorship, education, choreography, and performance, shaped by collaborations with dance and culture pioneers such as Bill T. Jones, Mia Michaels, Gil Duldulao, Wade Robson, Laurieann Gibson, Brian Friedman, Dave Scott, and Chris Judd and more.
Caldwell’s choreography and performances span dance-theatre, music videos, international tours, and fitness media. He has choreographed for Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award winners The Whispers, contributed to So You Think You Can Dance, and partnered with major fitness brands including Wondercise, which now streams his Freestyle Dance Cardio workouts worldwide.
He is a certified Simonson Technique educator, board-certified ballroom and Latin instructor (Fred Astaire International), and a certified teacher trainer in Punking. His academic credentials include professorships at Florida Atlantic University, artist residencies with Miami Dade College and the Pioneer Winter Collective, and global guest lectures from Vietnam to Haiti, specializing in Afro-diasporic cultural traditions and LGBTQIA+ street dance history.
Caldwell is also the founder of Florida’s International What The Punk Festival, the state's first and only LGBTQIA+ dance festival—a liberation platform dedicated to preserving and celebrating underground queer street styles from the 60s–80s. Through storytelling, movement, and mentorship, he creates safe spaces that bridge communities, empower marginalized voices, and promote healing through performance and education.
Beyond the stage, Caldwell has curated international folklore festivals, led fitness and wellness programs at over 7 Palm Beach County country clubs, offered adaptive dance instruction to the visually impaired, and works with seniors through his Better Brain & Balance classes. As an educator, adjudicator, casting director, and cultural producer, he has impacted over 40,000 students and educators around the globe.
His training bridges classical ballet, jazz, modern dance, traditional African and Caribbean forms, gay urban street styles, and postmodernism, informed by dance legends and culture bearers such as Lynn Simonson (Simonson Method) Shonach Mirk Robles (Bejart Ballet Lausanne), John Parks (Alvin Ailey), Michael Foley (Michael Foley Dance), and Jennifer Archibald (Arch Dance Company), Viktor Manoel (Punking) , and Tyrone “The Bone” Proctor (Waacking).
Through Dance People by Ovations Global Network Inc., Caldwell now channels all aspects of his work—performance, pedagogy, advocacy, and leadership—into a unified platform for international impact. The organization is committed to expanding access to dance-centered education, research, performance, and outreach, empowering artists to become not just performers, but cultural change-makers.
His work has been honored with awards such as Young Artist of the Year and the Coca-Cola Real Thing Award. He is a former board member of the South Florida Theatre League and past president of the National Honor Society for Dance Arts, Southwest Florida Chapter.
Caldwell currently resides in Lake Worth Beach, Florida, with his partner and their doggie Buster Boots, continuously curating new projects that center equity, joy, and history in movement.
